Mini USB-Micro USB-Type C-Launching of USB 4

USB or Universal Serial Bus is one of the most essential developments made in the mobile phone industry in the past 2 decades. It is the universal standard that has been the center of wired data and power transfer for 20 years now.
Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a device used for communicating between two devices, amongst which one is a host device such as mobile phones, computer systems, etc. and the other can be the connected device. USB enables a common peripheral a device which can be used for charging mobile devices as well as laptops and also enables data transfer between two connected devices.
Ajay Bhatt, an Indian, who was chief system technologist at Intel invented USB in 2000. Intel owns all the copyrights and patents for the USB, but has made the rights, “free for all” which had revolutionized the mobile phone industry, Earlier, there were dedicated charging cables for every smartphone, Nokia had their 2.5 mm charging port, Samsung had its broad charging port while apple used 30 pin dock connector for charging and data transfer, which was quite a hassle. But, nowadays, almost every smartphone company had shifted to either Micro USB port or Type C port.

Mini USB
The mini USB port was introduced in the 2000s, it was one of the most popular charging device used in mobile phones around the time of 2000-2007. Mini USB was used in mostly handheld Music consoles, Mobile phones and digital cameras. The data transfer speed of the Mini USB was around 12mpbs and can hold up to a power capacity of 2.5v. Moto Razr was one of the most popular devices running on Mini USB port.

Micro USB
The micro USB port was introduced in 2007, and is popular even in recent smartphones too. Micro USB is much smaller in comparison with a mini USB port. Micro USB is used in every smartphone even till today. The data transfer rate of Micro USB is up to 480 MBPS and power capacity is 2.5 volts. Nokia 5310 was the first mobile phone with Micro USB.

Type-C-Port
Type C port is the most recent and most advance version of USB ports, Type-C is relatively very thin and small in comparison with Micro USB port. Users can fit Type-C ports in their devices with either side. The data transfer rate of Type-C is up to 10 GBPS and power capacity can go up to 100 watts, which means not only you can charge mobile devices but can easily charge laptops too.

USB-4 Port
USB-4 Port is based on Thunderbolt protocol which Intel made freely available to the USB Promoter Group. USB-4 port was announced to be in the final stage of it’s testing in mid-2019 by the USB-IF. USB-4 port supporting devices can be seen in mid-2020 or late 2020. USB-4 Port will be delivering data transfer speed of up to 40 GBPS.

Conclusion-USB (Universal Serial Bus) plays an essential role in the whole data transfer and smartphone industry. What are your views on this and what do you think can be the most exciting feature that will come packaged with USB-4 launching.
