How does the Internet Works?

The core of every development in the modern world is the internet, it is impossible to even think of a life without the World Wide Web, but have you ever wondered, how the internet actually works, confused, we are here to answer this question.

Internet or World Wide Web, why do you think the Internet’s “official name is World Wide Web”, The Internet actually travels through wires across the globe through oceans. Do you know, 99% of the internet actually travels through just 300 cables. These cables are actually fiber optics wires spread across the earth in oceans, the network of these cables are called “Submarine cable network”. Only 7 companies in the world are responsible for putting up submarine cable network around the globe, these companies are called “Tier 1 companies”, these companies are-

-Level 3 Communications
-Cogent
-Global Telecom and Technology
-TeliaSonera International Carrier
-NTT Communications
-Tata Communications
-Telecom Italia Sparkle

These wires are actually as deep as 5-8 km inside the ocean, but not to worry, your internet is never going to stop, these wires are earthquake resistant, water resistant, and damage-resistant (even sharks in deep water cannot cut them easily), but if any damage occurs, there is always designated backups and also replacement and repairing are undertaken as soon as possible. These wires can transfers’ data at the speed of thousands of Terabytes per second.

How data travels?
Tier 1 companies such as Tata communications bring those huge wires to the landing stations in your country. In India, there are total 6 landing stations, with Mumbai being the biggest and others are Chennai, Pondicherry, Thoothukudi, Trivandrum and Cochin.

Then, Tier 2 companies such as Airtel, Jio, Vodafone, etc. take it from there, these Tier 2 companies had laid wires across the country which connects every cell tower to one or the other landing stations in India.

Suppose, you send a message through Facebook to your friend in another city, so the message or the data will travel through wires to the landing station such as Mumbai through cell towers, from the landing station, the data will travel to the country where the facebook’s server is kept which is United States of America’s landing station, then the landing the station will transfer the data to facebook’s server in North Carolina, which will process and it again the data will come to the Us’s landing station, to Mumbai landing station to the cell tower to your friend’s account, this whole process actually takes a fraction of a second to be done.

Conclusion-I hope, this answers every question related to internet functions, what are your views on this, do like and comment to add something to the article, Cheers!.
