The future of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning

The next a big star in the IT industry is undoubtedly ArtificialIntelligence, AI has been around for quite a time now and had now used by almost companies in every industry such as Retail, e-commerce, medical, finance, and transportation and even in manufacturing.

World is becoming more and more connected through various devices which combines IoT, Automation and networks. It can be said for sure that consumer and business needs and expectations will soon only be sustainable through automation.

Machine Learning is a part of Artificial intelligence through which the systems recognizes certain pattern based on the input of the user and adapts to it for future such occurrences, which is not technically correct every time. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is being adopted by many key players industries such as Finance, Marketing, healthcare, transportation and manufacturing to help them compete in an always-on and on-demand global culture.

However, even as AI and ML provides numerous benefits to the industry, such as increasing productivity while decreasing costs and the production time with the least amount of waste and  improving efficiency and fostering innovation in outdated business models, it is observed, there is a gap of errors that result in unintended, biased results and, worse, abuse by bad actors.

Such a case of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning being bad towards a group, community or otherwise was seen sometimes back when  the Apple Card allowing lower credit limits for women and Google’s  AI algorithm for monitoring hate speech on social media being racially biased against African Americans. And there have been far worse examples of AI and ML being used to spread misinformation online through deep fakes, bots and more.

A market research firm IDC stated that Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning spending on AI systems will reach $98 billion in 2023, more than two and one-half times the $37.5 billion that was projected to be spent in 2019. Additionally, IDC foresees that retail and banking will drive much of this spending, as the industries invested more than $5 billion in 2019.

Companies are readily investing much in being automated and planning to deploy advanced technologies for business operations to understand how and why it’s making certain decisions. It is high time for business owners and managers to understand the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

We believe there is a huge gap yet to be filled in the evolving industry of machine learning, one example of this gap can be of Google’s Assistant and Apple’s Siri, they are believed to be one of the smartest Artificial Intelligence that there is.  Artificial Intelligence works on “Binary codes only”, which means the machine understands only binary codes (0 and 1), Furthermore, the system observes or take actions on only 2 modes, either it is or not (again 0 and 1), which means a given command or a given situation is either true or false for the system which is not true in the real world. There are certain situation which can be measured on a scale of 1 to 10 of how true it is or how false it is, and shall take actions depending on those levels.  Understand this a Facebook post, in which a model may be holding a sniper rifle, Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence might take it down as a gun in the picture is wrong, according to its system. The system won’t understand that it might be a portfolio photo-shoot of a model which is being quite ineffective.

What can be its’ solution?

According to us, the next development in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can be of finding the answer to the question discussed earlier, solving the how true or how false problem with the Artificial Intelligence, see, there is clearly, a gap there, between binary codes, (0 and 1), which needs to be filled, which can be done through Alphabetical arrangements or Alpha-numeric, something like that, but it needed to be developed for the better.
